In the picture above, I am eating with Simon Morgan and Jackie Shen who were both at that time at University of Minnesota. Simon worked with me as a postdoc and the paper we wrote together on the equivalence of the flat norm and the L1TV functional launched a substantial thread of resaerch that continues to this day. I met Jackie when he gave a talk at the Image Analysis Seminar I organized at Los Alamos in 2002 while he was a Postdoc at UCLA working with Tony Chan.
