The Center for Geometric Analysis and Data
This Center is a natural evolution of the Data Challenge Cooperative experiment at WSU, 2008-2009, which was in turn a revised and improved version of the Data Driven Modeling and Analysis team, developed and run at Los Alamos 2001-2008. The essential nature of this Center for integrated research and education is:
Cooperative - Participation in a grass roots project is based on cooperative principles.
Generous - Prolific innovation flows from a generous atmosphere rich in ideas.
Problem-driven - An integrated approach to innovation that is rarely achieved by a discipline-driven perspective.
Multidisciplinary - Real problems are born multidisciplinary, so broad capabilities yield the most natural solutions.
Expertise Deep - Depth should not be sacrificed for breadth because depth is necessary for achieving robust, versatile innovation.
We see this center as a prototype of a whole clutch of cooperative centers and institutes with a focus on data.
