Michael Tsatsomeros' April 2011 Talk

  • Time and Date: 4:10 pm Thursday, April 21

  • Location: 5W Neill Hall, WSU Mathematics Department

  • Title: Perron-Frobenius Theorem: Origins, Manifestations and Challenges

  • Abstract: This talk almost has it all: Some history, a proof, theorems, applications and open problems. It will all start by exploring properties of matrices with nonnegative entries. These properties form the basic tenants of the so-called Perron-Frobenius Theory and, as it turns out, they are shared by all kinds of mappings in classical analysis, operator theory, abstract algebra and beyond.
